"The Loom" is a spatial design installation occupying the empty void in the heart of the abandoned Raghadan Bus Terminal.
3800m long rope are weaved, interlocked, juxtaposed, through the existing structure of the pergola that demarks the main atrium in the abandonded Raghadan Tourist terminal. Each rope was weaved and carefully connected to the existing structure through order and rhythm, to build a spatial loom that connects all floors with the weight of the beater; designed to mimic the typical Loom beater which takes the form of a metal bar, that holds all threads in place with a metal insert known as a reed, which contains a number of slots for the threads to pass through.
"The Loom" is a symbol for THE MAKING in any craft, a sculpture that stands against the anonymity of mass-production, and for the personalized production process, it stands against corporate labor, and gives back the power to the "hands", the individual and the man-made objects, in a spatial form occupying the void of the existing structure.

For the Loom installation we designed a special spatial beater that connects all threads reflecting the surrounding order and rhythm. The 15kg steel beater is suspended in air by the tension of the ropes.
